Art of buying gifts

Gift giving is a serious art

Buying something for someone and he/she not liking it..
A. waste of time
B. Gift is useless
C. waste of Money

I don't believe in "it's the thought that counts." Not in the way most people look at it. some people are lousy gift givers and others are exceptional gift givers. The difference being that exceptional gift givers' "thoughts," are effortful. Simply buying a gift is not enough--most people equate this with "it's the thought that counts." Because the person "thought" to buy a gift. WRONG. Thoughts only count when they're effortful and successful. I've seen so many times when people just buy people presents because they feel 'obligated' ... and buy the most hideous/generic/useless thing ever. What is the point of this?? Good for the economy ... bad for the soul.
