Most of you who know me, know that I am totally against the idea of getting married for myself. But here's one support for my rejection of marriage. And I promise, I tried not to be biased.
I find it ridiculous that people pay thousands (sometimes millions) of dollars to pay for a ceremony lasting about 5 hours. Ladies pay for their wedding gowns (usually in the thousands), hair, and makeup. Men..they just rent their suit. But beyond all the decoration, location, and invitations, What is the purpose of a wedding?
From my point of view, a wedding is a ceromony held to officialize the love between 2 people. All that time and money goes to "officializing" something that has already been established. I understand that a wedding is held so that 2 people can get married, but there are other ways to get married without hosting such a costly wedding. People can always keep it small and simple and go to court. If they truly are in love, substance shouldn't really matter.
Or maybe a wedding is a way to prove and show to others how great their love is.That the more money a couple spends on having a frivolous wedding proves that the couple are more in love? The bigger and prettier the wedding, the greater their love??
hmm.. I didn't know love was measurable.
I just don't get it.
Especially during a economy like this, getting married at a fancy church with all the fancy furniture, fancy food, fancy clothes, and fancy people sounds like a horrible idea. All of this is not necessary.
Maybe I'm a minimalist..But whatever my viewpoints are, it really doesn't change the fact that people pay ridiculous amounts of money to pay for an expensive half-day event.
ddaammnn, can you say cachinggg!?
I guess we, ladies, are doomed to marry rich. (except me)
